Company history

The creation of the Alcyon group

Alcyon was created following the merger of 4 veterinary distribution centres in 1995:

– Savenor (Arras site)
– Vetarvor (Landerneau site)
– Covely (Lyon site)
– Cavegat (Pau site)

Supported by the veterinarians and the CEOs of these four companies, this merger made it possible to found Alcyon, a joint stock company which is today owned by 4400 veterinary practitioners.

The creation of the subsidiaries Alcyon Belux et Alcyon Italia

Before Alcyon was created, two of the companies which today comprise the Alcyon group had decided to join forces with their European near neighbours:

In 1988: The creation of Covel’Italia, a subsidiary of Covely
In 1993: The creation of Sobelvet, a subsidiary of Savenor

With the official merger of the French centres in 2003, more than ever before the group resolutely signalled its determination to improve and consolidate the position of veterinarians in Europe.
